Mental Health Programs

What is the Program

The Digital Mental Health Program by Mansik Shakti Foundation is a visionary initiative that uses technology to bridge the gap between mental health awareness and real-time care. It brings together education, assessment, intervention, and professional support within a unified, secure digital ecosystem — tailored to meet the needs of students and youth across India.

At the heart of the program lies an AI-powered framework that enables early detection of psychological risks, automated triaging, and personalized mental health recommendations. The system supports everything from telepsychiatry integration and digital record-keeping (EMRs) to e-learning modules, making mental health services more accessible and continuous.

Beyond clinical care, the digital program includes awareness campaigns, public webinars, interactive workshops, and training for teachers and peer mentors. It is aligned with national initiatives like Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), NEP 2020, and Digital India, ensuring scalability, interoperability, and policy relevance.

By combining digital innovation with human-centered design, this program transforms mental health from a reactive concern into a proactive, inclusive, and evidence-based public health strategy.

What is the objective of the program

The main objective is to help students:

  • Recognize early signs of stress, burnout, or mental health issues
  • Improve emotional awareness and self-regulation
  • Reduce stigma around mental health conversations
  • Provide easy, confidential access to support (without judgment)
  • Improve academic and personal performance through mental clarity and stability
  • Build lifelong emotional resilience and help-seeking behavior

The program ultimately seeks to create a mentally healthier student population, which in turn contributes to a more successful and emotionally safe academic environment.

What do students need to do

Participating in the program is easy and voluntary. Here's what students are expected to do:

  • Download the App (or register through the college portal)
  • Give Consent to participate—your information remains private and protected
  • Complete a Self-Assessment using the MASS Battery (takes 10–15 minutes)
  • Review Feedback instantly—see your emotional health profile
  • Take Action based on your results:
    • Use self-help tools (breathing exercises, journaling, resilience tasks)
    • Join a peer group, workshop, or awareness session
    • Book a teleconsultation with a counselor or psychologist
    • Log your mood or stress regularly
  • Check Progress through your personal dashboard
  • Seek Help Again if symptoms persist or worsen—support is ongoing

All steps are guided and user-friendly, and you can stop or restart anytime without pressure.

How are students benefitted

This program provides many tangible and long-term benefits, such as:

  • Early Identification: You learn about issues before they escalate
  • Reduced Stigma: It's a private way to start conversations about mental health
  • Timely Support: You don’t have to wait weeks to see a professional
  • Better Focus: Emotional clarity improves academic concentration
  • Crisis Prevention: Early warning systems help avoid self-harm or severe breakdowns
  • Empowerment: You learn emotional regulation, goal setting, and stress management
  • Continuity of Care: You can track your progress and revisit tools anytime
  • Improved Relationships: Self-awareness improves how you relate to peers and family

What are the possible adverse reactions

While the program is designed to be supportive and user-sensitive, students may experience:

  • Emotional discomfort after reflecting on personal challenges
  • Over-identification with distress (e.g., thinking you're worse off than you are)
  • Anxiety upon receiving a “moderate” or “high-risk” result
  • Confusion if feedback is misunderstood
  • Fear of being judged, especially when sharing with a counselor or faculty
  • Privacy concerns, though the system is ethically governed

Recommendations for students

Be honest during the self-assessment—there are no “right” or “wrong” answers

  • Understand that mental health is like physical health—you can check in regularly and recover
  • Use the resources consistently, not just in crisis
  • Don’t wait for things to get worse—reach out early
  • Include others if you’re comfortable—faculty, family, or peers can help you stay on track
  • Use your data—look at your progress over time to see what works for you
  • Give feedback—help improve the program for future students

How does it help overall

The Mansik Shakti Student Program creates a safe, accessible, and reliable space for emotional health—something many students have never had before. It makes mental health support:

  • Normal: You can engage with it just like checking your grades or health
  • Available: 24/7 access on your phone, no long waiting lines
  • Affordable: Most services are free or subsidized
  • Private: You decide what to share and with whom
  • Supported: You're not alone—trained professionals and peers are available
  • Sustainable: You can return anytime to check in, grow, or recover

Most importantly, the program reminds students: your mental health is important, valid, and manageable.
